The Resilient Yoga Teacher Trauma Training with Shea

Grounded Healing’s Resilient Yoga Teacher Trauma Training is a certification and Yoga Alliance CEU accredited training. Yoga teachers will learn the science and history of trauma and toxic stress along with Trauma Informed Yoga (and Mindfulness) practices to safely support students and help them navigate their own everyday life.

Teachers will explore evidence-based studies, Window of Tolerance and nervous system regulation, social impact, growth mindset and more all in context to teaching Yoga. This immersive experience is designed to help you explore internal strength, stability, and confidence in your arm balances and inversions. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just starting out, this workshop will give you the tools and techniques you need to take your practice to the next level.

Mirian and Kate will guide you through a series of dynamic asanas (yoga postures) that will challenge and inspire you. You'll learn how to properly engage your core and upper body, as well as refine your alignment and balance.

Join us at Yoga On Kibby on Saturday, February 11th for a unique immersive yoga experience. Explore the intersection of sight, sound and mindful movement in the first installment of a series of creative  collaborations between yoga instructor Kate Burns and local multimedia visual artist Matt Rozensky. 

Come see our studio be transformed into a world of colorful lights and projected interactive visuals that react in real time to music, breath and motions of participating yogis.  Class is a 60 minute beginner friendly Vinyasa flow followed by a social hour of mimosas, light refreshments and fun photo opportunities.

To ensure a comfortable, intimate experience, attendance for this event will be strictly limited to 18 participants. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged. See you under the lights!

Inversions & Arm Balancing

In this 2 hour inversion and arm balance workshop hosted at Yoga on Kibby led by Mirian and Kate we will study yoga asanas (poses) such as headstand, handstand, forearm balancing, bakasana (crow) plus more, and the various tools and techniques to get you there and keep you safe while in posture.

We will cover:

- the role of alignment, bandhas, and breathing techniques used in these various poses

  • the misconception that “core” strength is needed for these asanas. (Spoiler: it’s not.)

-how to safely come in and out of inversions

-preparatory postures for inversions starting from the ground up

-the art of falling on your face (safely)

Class is $30. Please arrive a few minutes early if you are new to the studio.

Come on an empty stomach/ refrain from eating at least 2 hours prior to class or eat light.

Last but not least, come with an open mind and sense of humor!

Jump start your Dry January / healthy living 2023! AF = alcohol free! (Yoga is always AF, just having fun with words for the title!)

Yogis Kate and Josnelly are teaming up to bring resources and support for those who are committing to Dry January or other healthy choices for this month and year. Your registration includes:

  1. 30-minute of yoga practice led by Kate, including postures and meditation techniques to aid the body in digestion, calm the mind, and increase energy.

  2. 30-minute workshop led by Josnelly on how to make your Dry January fun. She will share her learnings from her two-year long journey living AF, including healthy alternatives beyond flavored water and diet pop/soda.

  3. One zero proof cocktail from Zero Bar & Lounge + tasting options!

Very important: This is a judgement free zone like any other yoga practice! You don’t have to be doing Dry January to participate.

Join us this Winter Solstice for 108 Sun Salutations led by Uday.

108 Sun Salutations is a meditative practice that connects the body, the mind, and the universe specifically when nature is undergoing a change.

108 sun salutations are easily modified and can be accessible for any practitioner. The repetition of movement creates a state of moving meditation and deep concentration.

We will offer 1 preparatory class leading up to the winter solstice to prepare and train the physical body, breath, and mind for the completion of the 108 Sun Salutations. This class is not mandatory but recommended to learn the flow and alignment of the Sun Salutes if you are not familiar.

Take Flight! The Art of Floating  in Vinyasa Workshop with Kate.

Explore the physics and energy of flight in this exciting and challenging workshop.

Learning to 'float back' and 'float up' can be a key part of the practice Vinyasa and Ashtanga practice. Once you learn this challenging set of skills you will be equipped to take flight!

In this workshop you will learn why the floating in vinyasa is such important movement and how it can transform the way you move to enable safety and expertise within theses movements.

Learn how to:

  1. Develop a strong and sustainable chaturanga

  2. Observe and explore the use of correct musculature of the asana

  3. Explore the bandhas

  4. Build strength in the shoulder girdle and core in order to avoid shoulder strains from the repetitive movement.

Summertime Kids Yoga

Ages 4-12 donation based ($1-$20 suggested).
This class not only gives children the benefits of exercise and fitness, but it also offers breath work, focus, mindfulness, and relaxation. Yoga can relieve stress, over stimulation, and anxiety, and can help children develop stress and coping skills that they can use in their daily lives.

Kids Yoga with Jamee and the Healing Heros Warriors teaches traditional yoga focusing on the 8 limbs of yoga, in a fun and easy to understand way.

Kiddos will learn:

  • Imaginative stories through the yoga flows

  • Learn the sun salutations

  • Work on advanced yoga postures such as headstands, arm balances, and bridges

  • Engage in games that teach “yoke”(unity). Learn ancient yoga principles through songs, featuring live songs and music. Learn Indian Sanskrit with each posture. Focus on basic breath work and relaxation skills within the class.
